Waiting on Wednesday is a feature hosted by Breaking the Spine.
Title: The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1) (Click for Goodreads)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Expected Publication Date: April 24th, 2012
Summary from Goodreads: In a future world, Vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.
Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die
or become one of the monsters.
Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.
Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.
But it isn’t easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.
Why I’m Waiting: Because my blog is way too much of a small fish for me to be able to get it off NetGalley. 😛 Plus, Julie Kagawa is doing vampires. Guys. DID YOU NOT READ THE BLURB? So I got bit by the media vampire. Hard. I’m not ashamed. Plus, this cover is eerily reminiscent of the one that was designed for me for my novel that was up on inkpop-turned-figment. They could be, like, twins. (Except for, you know, the words between the pages. I do not write like Julie Kagawa; not even close.) Several key book blogs I follow who ARE bigger fish than me and got the eGalley have loved it, so I’m sold. Now, the book just needs to COME OUT.
EDIT: So, funny thing happened this morning. I checked my inbox and MY REQUEST WAS APPROVED. This Waiting on Wednesday has just turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy. I LOVE EVERYTHING.
WHOA this sounds GOOD. Also: the first thing I thought when I saw the cover was “OMG Tears of Blood!”.
From what I hear from bloggers who’ve already gone through the ARC from NetGalley, it’s a really refreshing read about vampires AND spectacularly written. I’m excited to start!
Also, ME TOO. I was so excited. I want so badly to be sharing a brain with Julie Kagawa. 😛
Hahaha, how great is that! Happy Reading! 🙂
Patricia // My WOW
I certainly thought so. 😉
Fantastic WoW – so happy your NetGalley request was approved! Ironically, I am posting my review for The Immortal Rules on my blog later today. 🙂
Thanks! Me too! Haha, life’s a bowl of irony today. 😛 Hope you enjoyed it!
Loooooooooooooooooooved this book so much! I don’t think it’s possible to assosiate “Julie Kagawa” with “bad book” LOL! x) And I’m really happy for you that you got approved for this book on Netgalley — it’s almost as if your enthusiastic WOW made them realize you’d be great to review it! 😉
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
I’m already AGES into it; and SO ENTHRALLED. I can barely stop reading! 😀

Thanks! It’s great so far!!
Thats awesum u got approved! I was going to tell you that you need to try again because I got a copy from NG & I am a small small fish blog..lolz..
It is AWESUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMM! I was once the HUGEST fan of vamp books, the HUGEST, & then they became corny and contrived. UNTIL The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda & now Immortal Rules.
I read The Hunt last week & am reading this now (along with my WOW pick & 50 Shades of Grey)
I am very excited to see what u think of this.
I truly want to know. Maybe u can post something in a few days after you have read some of it?
Are you reading it right away or waiting?
My W.O.W
Sorry I did not read your comments first, What part are you at? I am at the part they go back to get the food from the basement & bare on their way back after a few bumps in the road (pretty much in the first quarter of the book). Are you further along?
I’m a little ways past there, about a third of the way through! I’ve yet to read The Hunt, but I really mean to. I will certainly be posting a review of the book when I’m done with it!
I got it from Netgalley to review! Which super awesome 🙂
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
