Some People Want to Read Your S**t: A Response to Better Than Food Book Reviews

Surprise Friday Betwixt the Books Discuss! content. A YouTube channel called Better Than Food Book Reviews posted a video a few days ago titled “Nobody Wants to Read Your S**t,” and we have some thoughts and feelings. Michaela and I really missed having these smart chats with you guys, and we’re pumped to talk about advertising, authenticity on YouTube, and unsolicited reviews. Enjoy!

Betwixt the Books Reviews: Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

LOOK AT HOW CRAZY THIS IS: Michaela and I are actually TOGETHER for this review, talking about the graphic novel Nimona. This has been in the works for a while, and it’s the cutest thing ever worth waiting for. We tried out recording ourselves via skype for this one, mostly because Michaela forgot her camera, and it had some hilarious results. Perfect for this book in cuteness level, really!

Betwixt the Books Discuss! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

This happened a few days ago, but it DID happen! We got around Google Hangout and streaming issues to figure out how to stream from Skype. And then the audio wasn’t the best, but I swear the video IS interesting! It was quite a fun discussion, where we talk about fandom and fanfiction and why this book was set up to be disappointing. It was a nice bookend to our first discussion, about why Hermione may or may not be racebent in the books!

Booktubeathon 2016 TBR

Hey guys! At 9:30AM yesterday, Michaela said, “Want to participate in booktubeathon?” and I said, “Sure! When does it start?” and she said, “Midnight.” Now, here we are with a TBR video not only for me, not only for her but ALSO for the two of us AND Taylor! That’s right, even Taylor’s been dragged into this madness! We’re really excited to participate for the first time, even if we don’t think there is any way we’ll get through all seven books. Fingers crossed!

Ruler of Books Tag

This week’s Betwixt content comes in the form of tags! This is my version of the Ruler of Books Tag, originally created by Ariel Bissett, and Michaela’s is coming later today. Once again, apologies for being super sick during filming, and I’m not quite on the mend yet anyways, but! That doesn’t change a thing about my devotion. đŸ˜›

Betwixt the Books Reviews: “A Tale for the Time Being” by Ruth Ozeki

GUYS! Michaela and I finally managed to do this joint review! By which I mean that I finally found the time to finish it so we could film this. Michaela was even able to participate in a buddy read for this book, though I was busy during that time. We’ve been excited for this video since before our hiatus, so we hope that you enjoy!

Weekly Wrap Up + What We Read 5/8/16

We’re back! This week, we had a higher number of reviews than normal (mostly because I actually helped Michaela out) and also a lot of other cool stuff! Also, I almost out-read Michaela, which is almost unheard of. Making a huge push as school comes to an end, I guess. Without further ado, here we go!
