It’s my birthday! Have a present on me!

Yeah, you heard right! Today – June 18th – is my 18th birthday. WOOHA! Look out world, I’m an adult and stuff. Whatever that means. 😛

Alright, well actually, it means a bunch of things. It means that I graduate from high school this weekend. It means I’m off to college in the fall. It means that a lot of things are going to be changing in my life! I guess this is sort of early warning: the blog might stutter around come August/September while I try to get my feet on the ground.

But you don’t care about that – that’s a long way away! I know why you’re REALLY here. You want to hear about my giveaway, not listen to me sing myself happy birthday! So here we go!

Yeah, yeah, that is a horribly mangled piece of clip art right there. I know where my  talents aren’t thank you very much. But the idea remains the same. One of my favorite series, the Fallen books by Lauren Kate, also had a birthday close to mine when Rapture – the fourth and final book – came out last week. I thought what’s a better way to celebrate then to giveaway a WHOLE SET OF THE SERIES? Yeah, you heard me.

I’m giving away hardcover copies of Fallen, Torment, Passion and Rapture to ONE lucky winner!

Are you excited now? You should be! Please click HERE to enter. (And note that this giveaway is US only.) This giveaway will run until June 30th. Don’t forget to check out the sidebar for the other giveaways I’m currently running – there’s a few!

June 18th – Today

Today is my birthday!!! I’m sosososososo excited I can’t tell you. 😀 But it also got me thinking–when I decided to write today’s poem early so I wouldn’t forget!–about expectations and how some people deal with them. This poem is my own personal response to the questions that started jumping up in my mind.

Today

No more waiting
Today is THE day
The day you’ve been counting down
For months
For years
And you stayed up until midnight
Just to say
Today is TODAY

But now
What do you do
Now that the wait
Is over?
Do you start the next countdown
To the next milestone
Or do you revel in today
And leave yourself hanging tomorrow?

My friends, I chose to
Love today
For it will not come again
And the feeling it brings
Is unique in your
Mind, soul and heart
And no matter what the other countdown is for
It will never be for TODAY

I’ll deal with tomorrow tomorrow
For I have no doubt
It will bring its own surprises
And I’ll great it with a smile
But today is today
And this is my moment
And I will live it
Today
