I have my own wrap up, of course, but then Michaela and I did one for the Betwixt the Books and Bibliomancy for Beginners Videos, and Michaela also has a wrap up for her blog, The Pied Piper Calls.

Excited? Good, because I am!

Bibliomancy for Beginners: “Good Omens” by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

Welcome to tonight’s belated episode of Bibliomancy for Beginners! Tonight we have Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett on tap. This is definitely going to be a good one, so don’t miss out!

Good OmensAccording to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world’s only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner.

So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon—both of whom have lived amongst Earth’s mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle—are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture.

And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist . . .

Hello Summer, Hello Blogosphere!

Well, well, what do we have here? A blog I haven’t touched since February? Oh man, that’s so sad. Apologies, guys. If I ever said things were crazy before, understand that this semester reached a whole new level. To put it plainly, I loaded up on 21 credits, three jobs and an internship and life just went bonkers the whole way. I was lucky I was getting my school work done, let alone anything else.

But lo and behold, I made it to summer. And lo and behold, I’m revamping the blog. Like the new look? Bibliomancy for Beginners is going to start up again in a week or so, and I’m actually going to be able to read. Back in January, I said that I wanted to play catch up with my have-but-need-to-read list, and I still want to do that. So that’s what I’m going to do.

Bibliomancy for Beginners will be happening every week. That’s for sure. I’m going to try to get back into Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday, at the very least. ARC reviews will be few and fair between, because I have too many that I never read as I promised and that’s just not fair.

It WILL be a truncated summer, because I’m leaving for my semester abroad in early August. But that’s a while away. For now, I’m just going to start reading.

Thanks for sticking around, guys. My plan is to many it worth your while!

So a month and a half later…

arielHere’s me, Gretchen, coming back up for air. Sorry guys, it’s been a while!

I’ll be honest, this break was actually half my choice. All of the sudden life went crazy and I didn’t know what to do about it. This whole year, really, has been a loop-de-loop of epic proportions, and it’s taken me forever to get it back under control. To be honest, it’s not back under control, but at least right now I’m not at college. That’s a little bit of a break, at least.

One thing that I know for sure, though, is that I miss blogging like nobody’s business. This has been a part of my life for so long, I don’t know how to go on without it–and all of you.

Another thing that’s crossed my mind is how absurdly long my have-but-need-to-read list is on Goodreads. If you don’t know whatburied-in-books I mean, that’s a list I have that keeps track of how many books I own that I haven’t yet read. Some are ARCs, some are books I’ve bought. I haven’t even updated the list in a while, and it’s still 100 books long. That’s really scary.

I wasn’t able to keep up with blogging because I overtaxed myself with ARCs and other timed stipulations. Well, no more. Good God, that list is a whole YEAR of reading, if this year’s Goodreads Challenge is anything to go by. A bunch of those are ARCs I requested and received and then never held up my end of the bargain. I hate that. So I’m going to fix it.

I’m going to try to keep up with Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday. I love those memes, and I don’t want to stop doing them. I want to keep vlogging, so Stacking the Shelves may continue to exist in some capacity, even though I plan on need requesting any more ARCs for the time being. Some Bibliomancers and I may be soon bringing you a Series of (Un)fortunate videos. I’m going to talk to Marina and see if she still loves me. To this, I’m going to add in a “Random Reads” post each week.

Random Reads will work like so: Every week, I’m going to plug some numbers into Random.org. These will represent the positions of the 100 or so books on that Goodreads list. Random.org will give me a number. That will be the book that I read that week. Sound good?

I hope so, because this is going to be the only way I defeat this list!

So what’s my first Random Read going to be?

Weekly Wrap Up + Stacking the Shelves for 8-31-13

wrapup

Hey guys! It’s been a LONG time since I’ve done one of these, so this isn’t so much of a “weekly” wrap up as much as a “here’s what’s happened since the last one.” My Stacking the Shelves this week is also huge, but mostly because I just bought a bunch of books for college. No, I’m not StS-ing with textbooks – I’m showing off the books I bought for one of my awesomest classes, “Studies in YA and Children’s Lit!” (Plus, you know, actual review books.) As always, watch the video for the views, and check out the links below!
